One Health Programme in Asia

European grant fund: EuropeAid Programme
Deadline: 22nd February 2013 for concept notes

The program is designed to improve health and well-being of fragile populations in Asia by tackling health risks and challenges at the interface between animals, humans and their various environments. The programme aims to strengthen capabilities in notably the Least Developed Countries in Asia to address and prepare for risks related to infectious diseases via the promotion of innovative and regional cross-sectoral and multi-actor collaborations and networking through the implementation of the One Health approach

Eligible actions are those aiming at: 

  • Linking wildlife, ecosystems, environments (including socio-economic) and health; 
  • Assessing (socio-economically) the burden of neglected zoonoses and the added value of the OH approach; 
  • OH advocacy in particular vis-à-vis the public health sector; 
  • Asian OH network and governance; 
  • Communication in time of sanitary crisis and “peace”;

EU grant funds for Supporting culture as a vector of democracy and economic growth

The call for proposals is divided into two lots, corresponding to two different specific objectives, as follows: 

Lot 1: Encourage cultural expressions which promote diversity, intercultural dialogue and human and cultural rights, in the context of reconciliation, conflict resolution and democratisation 

Target groups include cultural actors (such as policy-makers, artists and cultural workers), media, education professionals and civil society.  

Lot 2: Strengthen capacities of cultural actors for the development of a dynamic cultural sector contributing to economic growth and sustainable development 

Target groups include different categories of cultural actors, such as policy-makers, artists and cultural workers in general (including technicians, managers and professionals involved in production, promotion and distribution), entrepreneurs, etc., as well as other stakeholders involved in the cultural sector, including relevant public bodies, civil society organisations or private entities.

Eu funds: Youth in Action Programme

Youth Support Systems - Partnerships

Deadline for submission of applications: 17 September 2012

This call for proposals aims at supporting partnerships with regional or local public bodies or other stakeholders active in the youth sector at European level in order to develop over the long-term projects which combine various measures of the Youth in Action Programme.
This mechanism aims at encouraging synergies and cooperation between the European Commission – via the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency – and the different actors working in the field of youth by pooling resources and practices with a view to maximising the impact of the programme and to reaching out to a higher number of beneficiaries.
The project must include activities of a non-profit-making nature that are related to the field of youth and non-formal education.

The following activities are eligible under this call:
  • Trans-national Youth Exchanges
  • National or Trans-national Youth Initiatives
  • European Voluntary Service
  • Training and Networking

EU grant funds in the Transport sector

European funds for reducing Freight Traffic: Marco Polo programme.
Deadline: 21st September 2012

Five main actions:
1) Modal shift actions, which focus on shifting as much freight as economically meaningful under current market conditions from road to short sea shipping, rail or/and inland waterways
2) Catalyst actions: change the way non-road freight transport is conducted in the European Union.
3) Motorways of the sea actions: offering an integrated service, which shifts freight from long road distances to a combination of short sea shipping and other modes of transport
4) Traffic avoidance actions integrate transport into production logistics integrating transport into production logistics: reducing freight transport demand by road with a direct impact on emissions
5) Common learning actions enhance knowledge in the freight transport and logistics sector and foster advanced methods and procedures of co-operation in the freight market, with an overall objective of promoting intermodal solutions aiming at achieving modal shift or traffic avoidance

The project is expected to include a coherent research programme for the total duration of the contract, of which an initial outgoing phase, of between one and two years, is to be spent in a distinct legal entity in an other third country (partner organisation) and a mandatory re/integration phase of one year within the contracting organisation (return host organisation) in a Member State or an associated country.

This Call for Proposals has three distinct priorities. Therefore, it is divided in three lots and the funding is broken down by lot:
· LOT 1: actions aiming at informing the general public about the EU, its policies and the benefits of EU membership (mainly through public activities and with the help of media);
· LOT 2: initiatives targeting at bringing the EU closer to Croatian youth, most notably the eurosceptics among them (age group from 16 to 26, but not exclusively);
· LOT 3: proposals focusing on informing and educating various specific segments of the public on the possibilities of EU funds.

The objective of the present call for proposals is to support eligible countries’ National Administrations in charge of tourism, or other eligible public bodies for the purpose of the selection of one destination of excellence.
The theme for this year's call is “Accessible tourism”.
It is proposed to reward those destinations which have developed a tourism offer based on an overall approach to accessibility for tourists regardless of their physical limitations, disabilities or age.

All industrial sectors (except primary production) are eligible to be targeted in the projects, under the following conditions:
• They are polluting and have sufficient potential for improvement
• They form a substantial share of the economy and have potential for market demand
• They have sufficient potential for further multiplication in the country and/or region

The SWITCH-Asia Programme is expected to achieve the following results:
1) Reduce the environmental and social cost of production and consumption
2) Move SCP practices from demonstration to replication
3) Norm shift in policy-making towards sustainability

European funds for entrepreneurship education

The objective of this call is to promote projects with a high added value at European level in education for entrepreneurship. Actions will target teachers and young people in primary, secondary and tertiary education

Projects to be supported will focus on one of the following objectives (lots):

1.1 Creating trans-European models for primary and secondary school teachers to support the development of their skills and methods in applying entrepreneurial learning to different teaching subjects and to different contexts.
1.2 Developing, organising and executing cross-European training/education workshops for teachers of entrepreneurship at institutions of higher education (universities, colleges, business schools, universities of applied sciences, etc.).

European financial support for long term professional career integration projects
Deadlines:6th March 2012 AND 18th September 2012

This action consists of financial support for long term professional career integration projects in a host organisation of a Member State or associated country.
The financial support aims to provide the researcher with the best possible conditions for establishing herself/himself in a long term research career. For selected projects, a grant agreement is issued with the integration host organisation, which will commit itself to ensure an effective and lasting professional integration of the researcher for a period of at least the same duration as the project.
The integration host organisation must provide the researcher with an employment contract with a remuneration package of at least the same level to that offered to equivalently qualified researchers at the same institution. Evidence that the researcher will be integrated in the host organisation on this basis for a longer term will be positively taken into account during evaluation. Projects will be selected on the basis of a proposal submitted by an eligible researcher in liaison with a host organisation.

Eu funds in the energy field

European grant funds for transeuropean energy networks

The 2012 programme for grants in the field of trans-European networks (TEN) - area of energy infrastructures (TEN-E) - will encourage the effective operation and development of the internal market, reinforce the security of supplies and the diversification of energy suppliers and routes, facilitate the development and reducing the isolation of less-favoured regions, contribute to sustainable development and protection of the environment, inter alia by involving renewable energies.
Furthermore, it will promote interconnection, interoperability and development of trans-European energy networks and access to such networks in accordance with current EU law.
Particular attention shall be given to projects of European interest that contribute to:
(a) The development of the network to strengthen economic and social cohesion by reducing the isolation of the less-favoured and island regions of the Union;
