New funding programme LIFE 2014\2020

New LIFE programme 2014/2020 will replace LIFE+ 2007/2013

It will be divided into two sub-programmes: 

 The sub-programme for Environment will support efforts in the following areas: 

- "Environment and Resource Efficiency" will focus on more innovative solutions for better implementation of environment policy and integrating environmental objectives in other sectors; 

- "Biodiversity" will develop best practices to halt biodiversity loss and restore ecosystem services, while keeping its primary focus on supporting Natura 2000 sites, especially via integrated projects consistent with Member States Prioritised Action Frameworks (as described in the Commission's new paper on Financing Natura 2000); 

- "Environmental Governance and Information" will promote knowledge sharing, dissemination of best practices, and better compliance, in addition to awareness raising campaigns 

 The sub-programme for Climate Action covers the following areas: 

- "Climate Change Mitigation" will focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions; 

- "Climate Change Adaptation" will focus on increasing resilience to climate change; 

-"Climate Governance and Information" will focus on increasing awareness, communication, cooperation and dissemination on climate mitigation and adaptation actions. 

Grants to finance projects will remain the Programme's main type of intervention. Operating grants for NGOs and other bodies will still be possible, and there will also be scope for contributions to innovative financial instruments.

Analysis of reception, protection and integration policies for unaccompanied minors in the EU

DEADLINE for submission of proposals: 24 October 2013

 The main objective of this Pilot Project is to identify good practices on prevention, reception, protection and integration policies for unaccompanied minors.

The Pilot project will cover the following specific objectives:

(a) Identifying prevention actions and policies vis-à-vis the group to which the Unaccompanied Minors belong (e.g. asylum seekers, victims of trafficking, children who enter illegally into the Union) and/or the country or region of origin

(b) Identifying good practices in measures to support protection programmes for Unaccompanied Minors in third countries.

(c) Identifying best practices on child reception and protection, and in particular on issues such as procedures at first encounter, legal representation, appointment of a guardian, access to and adequacy of reception facilities, initial interviews, education and medical care.

(d) Identifying good practices in specific measures and procedural guarantees for Unaccompanied Minors in the European Union.

(e) Evaluating the various experiences of combating the phenomenon of unaccompanied minors going missing and identifying best practices.

(f) Identifying best practices on restoring family unity and reintegration of Unaccompanied Minors in their countries of origin.

The total budget earmarked for the co-financing of projects is EUR 1.000.0004 .

The minimum grant will be EUR 200.000 and the maximum grant will be EUR 1.000.000. Financial contribution from the European Union cannot exceed 90 % of the total eligible costs of the action.

European funding for smart electronic systems

Deadlines: 24 September 2013 for project outlines and 26 November 2013 for full proposals

The EURIPIDES² is a EUREKA cluster supporting cooperative industrial R&D from design to process and manufacturing in the crucial domain of smart electronic systems integration in aerospace, automotive,energy, health care, transport, and in all new domains like smart cities, mobility and security.

These products are more and more part of our life and environment in communication (smart phones), automotive industry (electric cars), aeronautics, secure societies, medical, agro food, water and energy. 

EURIPIDES stimulates and supports innovative projects aiming at the development of new products and services. Led by industry, these projects involve large companies, a growing number of SMEs and academia, from at least two EUREKA countries.

European funding for software-intensive systems and services

ITEA 2 is a strategic pan-European programme. It stimulates and supports innovative and pre-competitive R & D projects that contribute research excellence to European industry in Software-intensive Systems and Services (SiSS).

The ITEA 2 approach is:

• Industry driven;
• Bottom-up to favour innovation;
• Flexible to favour business impact;
• Market oriented;
• Intergovernmental;
• Based on a multi-dimensional concept of excellence for project selection
• Community oriented, easily accessible by industry and SMEs

It is possible to submit any idea that fits in the domain of software-intensive systems and services.

Projects involve between 40 and 300 person-years and typically last up to three years.

PARTNERS SEARCH FOR A PROJECT IN THE AGRI-FOOD SECTOR

We are looking for industrial partner for a project in the agrifood sector for the production and use of the first neraly zero energy ripening room.

The new technology enables to interact from and\or toward the outer environment for annulling heat exchanges from the air-conditioned internal environment through a closed- circuit water system plunged in new generation insulating materials.

The innovative technology allows to reach almost zero energy comsuption in all environments needing a controlled temperature, especially those for food aging, both in new constructions over the ground and in energy requalifications. 

The system has already been tested during 2013 and results are certified. 

Searched partners are primarly in the sector of prefabrication of building envelopes (wall and roofing panels), for the construction of storehouses and aging rooms especially with experience in the agri food sector, that are intersted in the costruction of active insulation systems for enviroments with controlled temperature. 

 Searched partners can also be final users in the agri-food sector (but also in the treatment of tobacco and pharmaceutical) that need to level down energy consumption of the air-conditioning of process rooms. The project foresees the market penetration of the innovative technology.

European funding for low-carbon energy technologies.

EUROGIA2020 goal is to support and promote international partnerships developping innovative projects in low-carbon energy technologies.

It is a bottom-up, industry driven, market oriented programme which addresses all areas of the energy mix, from renewable energy to efficiency, and reduction of carbon footprint of fossil fuels.

EUROGIA2020 is a cluster of the EUREKA network, a decentralized intergovernmental initiative started in 1985 to enhance European competitiveness by supporting businesses, research centers and universities that take part in trans-national projects.

 It adresses all innovative energy technologies that will:

• reduce the carbon footprint of energy production and;
• use develop new technologies for energy such as solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, energy efficiency, etc.

Awareness raising on violence against women

DEADLINE: 30 October 2013

Proposals should develop new and innovative awareness raising activities and materials aimed at preventing violence against women which will be targeted at and/or accessible for most vulnerable groups of women, such as women with disabilities, migrants, Roma, women belonging to ethnic minorities, lesbians, transexuals and elderly women.

• photo competitions

Using media in a safe way: to prevent violence in social networks and video games

DEADLINE: 30 october 2013

Proposals should empower children (boys and girls), young people and women to use media in a safe way to bring about attitudinal and behavioural changes with regard to the potentially harmful impact of gender stereotyping and sexualisation in the media, consumer industries, online or video games, social networking, etc.

Projects on children must take due account of the standards set out in the UN Convention on the rights of the child.

Actions for children as victims of violence and of bullying at school

DEADLINE: 30 october 2013

There are two specific actions under this call for proposals:

1. Proposals should benefit child victims and/or witnesses of violence in close or intimate relationships, where projects roll out previously tried and tested models or pilots (to be described in detail in the application) taking a child-centred approach and documenting the numbers of children to be reached by the project.
2. Proposals should develop and roll out, or roll out previously developed and piloted comprehensive anti-bullying policy and programmes (to be described in detail in the application) in schools. Projects funded under this priority must involve children, teachers and staff in a participatory and empowering manner and clearly document the numbers of children/teachers/staff that will be reached.

Bullying at school projects may also cover social networking sites as an extension of bullying in schools.

Projects under these priorities may allow for adaptations or customisation in line with the situation in individual Member States, but the overall objectives and methods must be the same for all participating Member States.

European funding: CIP Eco-innovation First Application and Market Replication Projects 

Deadline: 5th September 2013

The three main aspects of CIP Eco-innovation are:
1. Environmental benefits
2. Economic benefits (including wide replication)
3. Contribution of projects to innovation

Calls support Eco-innovative projects in different sectors which aim at the prevention or reduction of environmental impacts or which contribute to the optimal use of resources.

Priory Areas:

• Materials recycling 
• Sustainable building products 
• Food and drink sector 
• Water 
• Greening businesses

This call is open to all legal persons that are based in eligible countries but the priority will be given to Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Clusters of applicants and projects which demonstrate a European added value and have a high potential for market replication are strongly encouraged.
