Eligible applicants
European companies and in particular to independent production companies.
Applicants must be established in one of the following countries:
— the 27 countries of the European Union,
— Croatia and Switzerland.

Eligible actions
The development activities for the following audiovisual works (one-offs or series) are eligible:

• drama projects intended for commercial exploitation of no less than 50 minutes,
•  creative documentaries intended for commercial exploitation of no less than 25 minutes (duration per episode in case of series),
• animation projects intended for commercial exploitation of no less than 24 minutes.

The call for proposals has two deadlines.

European call for proposal: Audiovisual festivals

European funds for the audiovisual industry

Objectives

• facilitating and encouraging the promotion and movement of European audiovisual and cinema works at trade shows, fairs and audiovisual festivals in Europe and around the globe, insofar as such events may play an important role in the promotion of European works and the networking of professionals,
• improve access to European audiovisual works for the European and international public.

Eligible applicants

European organisations from the Member States of the European Union and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Croatia and Switzerland.

Eligible actions

Such organisations must implement audiovisual festivals which contribute to the aforementioned objectives  and which screen a minimum of 70 % European films from at least 10 States participating in the MEDIA  programme, in their total programme

31 October 2011: for projects starting between 1 May 2012 and 31 October 2012,

30 April 2012: for projects starting between 1 November 2012 and 30 April 2013

 European grants for TRAINING, MARKET ACCESS, DISTRIBUTION AND CIRCULATION OF AUDIOVISUAL WORKS

Deadline: 23rd September 2011

ACTIVITIES:

·         Support for training: this action aims at strengthening the skills of European and third- country professionals:

o        Option 1 supports the inclusion of students/professionals and teachers from non-EU countries in initial or continuous training schemes supported by the MEDIA 2007

o        Option 2 supports the creation of a continuous training scheme specific to MEDIA Mundus.

·         Support for market access: this action supports projects to promote access to international markets for audiovisual works. These projects concern the development and/or pre-production phases (for example international co-production markets) and activities downstream (events facilitating inter­national sales of the works).

·         Support for distribution and circulation: this action aims at encouraging distribution, promotion, screening and diffusion of European works in third-country markets and of audiovisual works from third countries in Europe under optimum conditions.

·         Cross-over activities: this action aims at supporting projects of a cross-cutting nature, i.e. touching upon several priorities of the programme, e.g. trainings with subsequent pitching events at co- production meetings.

BENEFICIARIES:

The coordinator of the group must have its registered office in a Member State of the European.

The group must include at least one co-beneficiary linked to the audiovisual sector which has its registered office in a non-EU country other than Croatia and Switzerland

Eu grant fund: VIDEO ON DEMAND AND DIGITAL CINEMA DISTRIBUTION

MAIN AREAS OF INTERVENTION:

Two types of services targeting two different types of audience are foreseen:one aimed at the general audience through "video on demand" services (Business to Consumers), enabling individuals to select audiovisual works from a central server for viewing on a remote screen by streaming and/or downloading.

1. one aimed at the general audience through "video on demand" services (Business to Consumers), enabling individuals to select audiovisual works from a central server for viewing on a remote screen by streaming and/or downloading.
2. one aimed at cinema exhibitors offering "digital cinema distribution" to their audience (Business to  Business). Digital delivery of "Core Content", i.e. feature films, TV films or series, shorts (fiction, animation and creative documentary) to cinemas for theatrical exploitation (via hard disc, satellite, online…).

Purpose:

The main objective of this scheme is to support the creation and exploitation of catalogues of European works to be distributed digitally across borders to a wider audience and/or to cinema exhibitors through advanced distribution services, integrating where necessary digital security systems in order to protect online content

BENEFICIARIES:

European organisations registered in an eligible country who have as their main activity audiovisual production, distribution, exhibition and aggregation.

Broadcasters and telecommunication companies are not eligible.

Applications from legal entities registered in one of the following countries are eligible:

• the Member States of the European Union
• Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway

• Switzerland

• Croatia
