 European grants for TRAINING, MARKET ACCESS, DISTRIBUTION AND CIRCULATION OF AUDIOVISUAL WORKS

Deadline: 23rd September 2011

ACTIVITIES:

·         Support for training: this action aims at strengthening the skills of European and third- country professionals:

o        Option 1 supports the inclusion of students/professionals and teachers from non-EU countries in initial or continuous training schemes supported by the MEDIA 2007

o        Option 2 supports the creation of a continuous training scheme specific to MEDIA Mundus.

·         Support for market access: this action supports projects to promote access to international markets for audiovisual works. These projects concern the development and/or pre-production phases (for example international co-production markets) and activities downstream (events facilitating inter­national sales of the works).

·         Support for distribution and circulation: this action aims at encouraging distribution, promotion, screening and diffusion of European works in third-country markets and of audiovisual works from third countries in Europe under optimum conditions.

·         Cross-over activities: this action aims at supporting projects of a cross-cutting nature, i.e. touching upon several priorities of the programme, e.g. trainings with subsequent pitching events at co- production meetings.

BENEFICIARIES:

The coordinator of the group must have its registered office in a Member State of the European.

The group must include at least one co-beneficiary linked to the audiovisual sector which has its registered office in a non-EU country other than Croatia and Switzerland

European funding: TRANSNATIONAL COOPERATION PROJECTS WITHIN THE CENTRAL EUROPE

DEADLINE: 14th October 2011.

BENEFICIARIES:

Partnerships consisting of public and private representatives of at least three member states have the possibility to submit their project proposals with the aim to improve quality of life of Central European citizens.

AREAS OF INTERVENTION:


Priority 1. Promotion of socio-economic development and enhancement of territories
• Agro-food: Definition of policies and promotion of pilot initiatives to support R&D, innovation and technology transfer, with particular attention to SMEs, and promotion of innovating SMEs clusters in the Agro-food industry


• Sustainable Tourism: Definition of policies and promotion of pilot initiatives to support R&D, innovation and technology transfer, with particular attention to SMEs, and promotion of innovating SMEs clusters in the Sustainable tourism based on the preservation and enhancement of cultural and natural heritage


• Integrated coastal zone management: Promotion of joint planning methodologies with regard to integrated coastal zone management including maritime safety


Priority 2. Promotion of environmental sustainability at the basin level
• Waste treatment and recycling: Support to R&D, innovation and technology transfer, with particular attention to SMEs, in relation to Waste treatment and recycling


• Water management with attention on:

- Quantity and quality of supply, with a focus on alternative water supplies and wastewater re-use and/or
- Efficient use of water resources, with a focus on agricultural use


• Solar energy: Definition of policies and promotion of pilot initiatives to support R&D, innovation and technology transfer, with particular attention to SMEs, in the field of Solar energy

FUNDINGS: ENVIRONMENT POLICY AND GOVERNANCE

EU Grant funds: environment policy and governance

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES:

Only innovative or demonstration projects are eligible.

• Climate change: to stabilise greenhouse gas concentration at a level that prevents global warming above 2 °C,

• Water: to contribute to enhanced water quality by developing cost-effective measures to achieve good ecological status in view of developing river basin management plans under Directive 2000/60/EC (Water Framework Directive),

• Air: to achieve levels of air quality that do not give rise to significant negative impacts on and risks to human health and the environment,

• Soil: to protect and ensure the sustainable use of soil by preserving soil functions, preventing threats to soil, mitigating their effects and restoring degraded soils,

• Urban environment: to contribute to improving the environmental performance of Europe's urban areas,

• Noise: to contribute to policy development and implementation on environmental noise,

• Chemicals: improve the protection of environment and health from risks posed by chemicals by 2020 by implementing chemicals legislation, in particular Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) and the Thematic Strategy on the sustainable use of pesticides,

• Environment and health: to develop the information base for policy on the environment and health (the Environment and Health Action Plan),

• Natural resources and waste: to develop and implement policies designed to ensure sustainable management of natural resources and wastes, and to improve the environmental performances of products, sustainable production and consumption patterns, waste prevention, recovery and recycling; to contribute to the effective implementation of the Thematic Strategy on the prevention and recycling of waste,

• Forests: to provide, especially through an EU coordination network, a concise and comprehensive basis for policy relevant information on forests in relation to climate change (impact on forest ecosystems, mitigation, substitution effects), biodiversity (baseline information and protected forest areas), forest fires, forest conditions and the protective functions of forests (water, soil and infra­ structure) as well as contributing to the protection of forests against fires,

• Innovation: to contribute to developing and demonstrating innovative policy approaches, technologies, methods and instruments to assist in the implementation of the Environmental Technologies Action Plan (ETAP),

• Strategic approaches: to promote effective implementation and enforcement of Union environmental legislation and improve the knowledge base for environmental policy; to improve the environmental performance of SMEs

BENEFICIARIES:

Proposals must be presented by entities registered in the Member States of the European Union being public and/or private bodies, actors and institutions

Duration of the project: up to 36 months

The Eco-innovation initiative is a cross-cutting programme that supports eco-innovative projects in different sectors which aim at the prevention or the reduction of environmental impacts or which contribute to the optimal use of resources.

Eu funding: digital cinema

Eu grant fund: VIDEO ON DEMAND AND DIGITAL CINEMA DISTRIBUTION

MAIN AREAS OF INTERVENTION:

Two types of services targeting two different types of audience are foreseen:one aimed at the general audience through "video on demand" services (Business to Consumers), enabling individuals to select audiovisual works from a central server for viewing on a remote screen by streaming and/or downloading.

1. one aimed at the general audience through "video on demand" services (Business to Consumers), enabling individuals to select audiovisual works from a central server for viewing on a remote screen by streaming and/or downloading.
2. one aimed at cinema exhibitors offering "digital cinema distribution" to their audience (Business to  Business). Digital delivery of "Core Content", i.e. feature films, TV films or series, shorts (fiction, animation and creative documentary) to cinemas for theatrical exploitation (via hard disc, satellite, online…).

Purpose:

The main objective of this scheme is to support the creation and exploitation of catalogues of European works to be distributed digitally across borders to a wider audience and/or to cinema exhibitors through advanced distribution services, integrating where necessary digital security systems in order to protect online content

BENEFICIARIES:

European organisations registered in an eligible country who have as their main activity audiovisual production, distribution, exhibition and aggregation.

Broadcasters and telecommunication companies are not eligible.

Applications from legal entities registered in one of the following countries are eligible:

• the Member States of the European Union
• Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway

• Switzerland

• Croatia
